phil kieran has been in the upper echelons of the electronic music game for more than a decade, but is only now releasing his debut album under his own name. known for rocking clubs and releasing a string of killer twelves, belfast-based phil has hooked up with german powerhouse cocoon in recent times. sven väths label is now about to release shh, a groundbreaking piece of work that will undoubtedly gain phil plaudits across the board. shh seems to not only reference every sound phil has ever loved in music, but is formulated in a completely fresh and futuristic way. listen carefully and you can detect elements of dub reggae, old hardcore like lfo, hip-hop, early 90s electronica such as autechre/black dog and other warp staples, as well as the futuristic techno that phil excels in. for the album phil went back to old sound lab recordings dating back to the 1950s and 60s. utilising some of these sounds in the initial construction, he built up tracks using a combination of old samples sourced from original and weird places and some live new instrumentation as well. there are live drums, some electric / acoustic/ bass guitar and live keyboard playing as well as some choice guest vocalists.

the model doesnt just have his own sound, he has in fact attempted to engineer his own genre: dark-techno-baroque. the sound has been crafted through a penchant for aristocratic mannerisms and a passion for high fashion and low fetish. it also happens to pretty succinctly sum up part of his unique personality. set against a backdrop of refined charm, there s an underbelly of something dark and brutal, which is possibly the best way to describe the a-side >in the night<. in many ways this could be seen as a return to form for gigolo, immediately poppy but structured as a classic song with haunting vocals underpinned with a driving techno rhythm. to further consolidate the techno aesthetic look no further then >flex on the b-side and you have a pounding track that could have been played by daft punk in 96 and will probably find a home with a diverse selection of djs today.
the >vampire funk ep< is the first release from the models forthcoming album on gigolo. the concept is in the same vain, but delves deeper into the dark-side of the model. exploring his fetish with the night and creatures that occupy its opulent corridors. like classic transylvanian tales the music from this album will present details that set the mood and composition to create tracks with narrative regardless of lyrics or words. the result being music that moves both bodies and minds and stirs the blood. as pretentious as this sounds the author of this mindless scrap of paper has the fortunate privilege of speaking from experience. as the mind that moves the hands that moves the keyboard is the mind that is being moved by the music as i type and you read. so we are already part way there. the rest will unfold in the coming months.

the new york producer and dj, alexi delano, can not miss this excellent template. in his remix of the mentioned track he whispers it the required dryness in, and so it becomes afterhour-compatible ... and it continues to roll… brian sanhaji and his interpretation of this symbiosis: the use of his characteristic style of the born frankfurte in his remix gives the all-rounder track the old well-known gloomy and beloved hardness, but does not loses the melodic nature out of sight. the whole thing will become a new symbiosis ... and it continues to roll ...

two more tracks from the much anticipated italoboyz full length cd >bla bla bla<. those of you familiar with italoboyz music will be aware of its roots in the fusion of organic with electronic sounds and the collision of genres as varied as jazz, opera and folk with what we traditionally know as house and techno. >techno tower< and >chinese< are a real testament to the italoboyz musical roots and will surely turn some heads on the dancefloor.

marcus sur lives 30 minutes from cologne in essen and has recorded for several labels in the past like pottheads with whom he reached no 1 in the dcc charts with his >stop the junk< release. his latest tracks were released on highgrade and keno records. marcus sur played bass in a band but stopped in the 90ies to get involved in djing which lead to famous residencies in clubs such as >rote liebe< and >baikonur< where he was also responsible for the musical programme. with his release >down with the ship< on trapez ltd he shows his love for minimal music. his definition of minimal though has more in common with robert hood than with recent developments due to the fact that his love for rare groove and deep house music has been part of his life. his 2 track vinyl is authentic and cool and speaks the language of the coal mining district in germany, the ruhrpott. house music has always been big there and lead to the founding of one of the first house distributers in germany, ntt . marcus sur is momentarily resident at the gold club in essen where he will celebrate his release on the trapez label night (26th of september)

fourth release from do easy records comes up with an outstanding deep and groovy anthem delivered by no one less than producing genius daso from cologne. >im over u< catches listeners and dancers immediately with its remarkable piano hookline and a perfect timed groove. the funky vocals push this track to a real house bomb and will set each club and outdoor floor on fire ! again, daso at its best ! on the flip you find a percussive remix by romanian sound wizard ali nasser. ali well know for his very own house style gives the original a more oldschool and rough touch that is pushed by nice funky bass. for sure one of his exceptional remixes. we love it and we hope you too !

once again another masterpiece from the dynamic reflection squad in your face! this time the spanish hermanos exium are responsible to represent the fourth coming release!
they smash down the door with the title track , >labyrinth<, a massive dancefloor killer with a big hit potential! with this track exium brings up oldschool memories with influences of their modern sound. this is exium at his best!
on the flipside, paul boex, mr. labelboss himself and his partner in crime marco rane, make their debut on the label with a soulfull remix of this original. with impressive releases on arms and naked lunch these guys prove once again that they are capable of bringin quality stuff to the floor. on the b2 exium comes up with a highly intelligent broken beat tune, called >plankton<. dave clarke already played this in his weekly >white noise< radioshow. big support!
once again an amazing 4th release from the dynamic reflection squad, let s pray for more of this pure quality stuff and keep our eyes on the the future. the scene need more labels like this which reflects the current techno movement and promises loads more of that sweet stuff in days to come.

minimal music has the reputation to create alot of little. alexander pavlenko, a talented producer from ukraine, is here to change all that and even raise the bar while he is at it! you cant deny this young mans skills for production and minimalism, no cheesy lines, no blips and blobs that we all heard a 1000 times allready. >carbon black< is one of those tunes you will instantly remember.. it sounds so crispy, so clean, so... pavlenko.. and it sticks inside your head like chewing um sticks to your hair.. the flip is no different. on >error 99< pavlenko keeps the drive a bit lower but the effectiveness is immense. dark vibes combined with even darker basslines make this one error you cant call the helpdesk for.

the last single taken from the remute-album >grand glam< will bring back summer! >lampuca for everyone< is a catchy house-mover with an hook-line you won t forget. incl. remix by hot spanish super-heroes affkt & rafa siles from the label of the moment barraca music.

perc trax returns with its 30th vinyl release with a split ep showcasing the works of both its newest and most established acts.
first up is ben gibson with 2 tracks that feature on his forthcoming perc trax album >in a realized luck of immanence<. both tracks instantly demonstrate what made jeff mills sign ben to his axis offshoot 6277. bens sound is a dense, atmospheric take on the now-classic uk techno sound of surgeon, regis, ruskin etc and both the rolling bass of >vanished between< and the sharp stabs of >wirklichkeit< prove that he is an artist to watch out for.
on the b-side label boss perc hooks up with the labels canadian connection metalogic to deliver 2 tracks that flit between broken beat and 4/4 rhythms with ease. both tracks feature an attention to detail that both perc and metalogic are known for with endless dubbed out synths and effects keeping the tracks interesting but never getting in the way of the crisp beats. these tracks have already been road tested around the world by perc in recent months and will be a key part of a launch party for this ep in toronto in october.
